FAITH IN GOD...We speak of having FAITH in God.  And, every now and then, we are saddened to learn of people who have lost-their-faith.

Is yours a God who, as a result of your earthly behaviour judges that you be either saved or condemned to eternal hell-fire?  Or is yours a disinterested and ever-loving God?

Is faith in God a coat of many colours, designed to fit each of us in his or her own way?

When all is said and done, no matter the God we believe in or how or why our faith is engendered, by definition common to all, faith in God is a divine sense of KNOWING that God is within and everywhere around us.

Is it possible that our capacity to lose faith has everything to do with how we view God, as opposed to that ill which may have befallen us in the moment?  To the extent this can at all be discerned, we leave it to those such troubled: these, our fellow-man.

It is our belief that faith in god TRANSCENDS the workings of the mind.  Such faith wells up from within, a product of the SOUL.  It is one that assures us of our spiritual grounding, at once allowing us to walk in the way of Jesus.  It is a life-long JOURNEY, one from which, with God's GRACE, there is no exit-path: an invincible faith in a disinterested and ever-loving God.

To understand the mystery of faith, writes Mark Richard, you cannot be told it; YOU MUST EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF.  House of Prayer

From Derek's email: As for faith – we all I hope believe in some one. It is seems it is only when we NEED to we seek out our faith and call upon (who) to help and protect. It would be so much easier calling upon our saviour everyday, this way we have comfort in knowing our voices are heard always and forever. I noticed this so much during the week. Those with faith, were stronger and helped those still seeking or lost. It was so amazing to see these people walk tall and strong – yet they comforted those who needed comfort. It is truly powerful and peaceful.

From Winnie's email: Very nice reflection as it allows for everyone, no matter how we believe in God, to get something out of it.

From Linda's email: God’s Word has much to say about faith but Hebrews 11 says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” and “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Thankfully faith is based on facts, not feelings that constantly change.

From Shirley's email: Yes, it's a good message. You are right that it is a personal journey. I turned my life over to a 'higher power' some years ago, when I found that I couldn't handle everything on my own, nor, in fact, are we expected to do so - 'turning over one's ego', so to speak (the more you know, the more you know you don't know) - oh good grief! I guess you might call what I experienced an 'epiphany' of sorts, and I've have found that if I keep the faith in God, he always answers my queries. He expects me to do the work and figure out which path to take, but I feel he is always there guiding me to proceed with doing the 'right' thing. Our inner voice (perhaps God replying to our queries) always tells me what to do and how to proceed. We do not understand the message at times, but it's always there - deep down we know what the 'right thing to do is, usually' - just by following Jesus' teachings.

From Marlene's email: Wow... pretty profound! I read it a few times, and each time, I pick up more. Different words speak to me, and I can't tell you which part of it I like best. It's all so... perfect!

From Lynne's email: Thanks for these (reflections), I so appreciate receiving them - they are calm in a busy schedule.

From Maurice's email: I deeply liked Garry's reflection on faith. But would it not be better to say that God is a forever forgiving and ever-loving God, instead of saying that God is not interested; although I think I know what he means.

From Virginia's email: I enjoyed reading the Faith in God article. It has lots of wise words.
I would like to think that I have experienced Faith.

From Mary's email: It seems like Garry gives a great deal of sincere thought to the topic he chooses to present in his 'Reflections'. Thank you for sharing.

From Sylvia's email: Dear Bonnie, I heard a couple of weeks ago on CBC Tapestry, the self-told story of a man who had lost faith, the very thing he desired the most. He was a minister with a church, and was very unhappy about this. For the moment, he had to continue his ministry but was seeking a way to bow out and do something else. He is not the only one that this has happened to. He told about how, when he was younger, he had often hoped that he would lose his life before he would ever lose his faith. However, as he was telling his story, I could tell that his background was not all about God's unconditional love. At one point, he asked himself why we could not be presented with an image of God that would overlook all behaviours, attitudes, human conditions, religions etc... and just heal all conditions. He seemed so very close to faith, much closer than he realized and probably closer than he had ever been. He had just not yet realized that the image of his ideal God was the one he should have had all along.

From Carol Ann's email: I view God as a loving God. World view of eternal hellfire is suggestion of the possible separation from God, Good. The temptation to be fought is to turn away from God or lose faith. Reading the book of Job - he was tempted beyond human tolerance and never gave up believing in God's inherent goodness. Like your message, keep up the good work and listening for direction from God!
