Spiritual Understanding ...

Enshrined in spirituous Mind,
Deign not to speak
Whilst understanding
Another.
Honour instead
Your quiescent
Sixth and Seventh senses:
Hear another’s silent outcry
Of the soul through
INTUITION—truth’s revelator
And
UNDERSTANDING truth unsaid.

“Hear another’s silent outcry of the soul … ”

“Hi Bonnie, where’s Clyde,” said Phyllis … I liked her right away!  We met at a Forgiveness Workshop a few months ago and again this weekend at a Bereavement Workshop. The final session done, everyone was packing up. Phyllis made her way to the back desk where we were gathering up our workshop materials. I was delighted. She wanted to say goodbye! As I listened, Phyllis shared a bit of her story… the Company she’d been with for twelve years pulled out of Calgary. Still not working four years later. Phyllis is grieving this along with other losses and would like to reconnect with her Métis community. Now we can help. blw

The "Who" We Really Are ...

When the “who”
We show to others
Gives lie to
The inner soul,
We have lost our way.
Fear not, for
‘Tis but an illusion,
An aberration, a
Mind in turmoil
Working to obscure
The “who”
We really are, the
God-given “who” forever resting in
Peace, love and harmony.
We have but to quiet the mind,
Be still and
Surrender to our
True inner Being:
To God within.

“Fear not, for ‘Tis but an illusion, … ”

It was a day not unlike some others.  My ‘self’ was full of doubts.  My mind was saying, “what are you doing, who do you think you are, you should be doing this-that-and-the-other.“  When reading Garry’s latest writing … my eyes rested on “Fear not, for ‘Tis but an illusion…” --immediately the spell I was under was broken and I saw it for its nothingness. blw

The Breath of God ...

That primal force of purity,
The essence of all life,
Lives within the soul,
Never wasted, never lost,
Its spiritual emanation
The mystic tie with that
From whence it came:
The Breath of God.

“The mystic tie … the Breath of God.”

Monday, October 21st is Calgary’s general election. While at the Boy Scouts Hall yesterday awaiting our turn to cast our Advance Vote, history surrounded us with many new and old  pictures of Scout troops adorning the cabin-like walls.  As we proceeded through each station we were greeted and helped by peoples from many countries, each with their unique accent, all doing their best to belong. blw

Life's Ultimate Triumph ...

Life’s ultimate triumph – no less its purpose – is the reunion of our true inner Spiritual self with the divine primordial force which is life itself, and gives life to all, i.e., God, who lives in us, and we in Him. It is a force within each atom of our Being, in all of nature and throughout the universe: a mystic force that unites one and all. To know it is to be in touch with our own immortal soul and to know Truth, our ever-present providential guidepost.

“… reunion  of our true inner Spiritual self with the divine … mystic … unites one and all.”

While at *Midday Meditation last week I experienced a feeling of being purely loved by the divine. I thought my heart would burst.  Along with this there was a new awareness that the only way to spiritually see myself, is to see myself in the other person. It is then that I can feel love and compassion for myself and for the other because this is what I need. The reunion of myself with the divine unites me with one and all. I can’t see ‘me’ in any other way… it’s the only way I can love my ‘self’. blw

Know Thyself ...

The premise is not a new one; quite the opposite in fact, for it has been known from earliest recorded history. Much more recently, about 450 years before the birth of Christ, the Stoic philosopher Zeno summed it up in two words: “Know Thyself.” This divine insight—for such it is—need be our sole guideline throughout life.

Knowing ourself means disencumbering the crass materialism that burdens the soul. All too often this only manifests itself when we are at our lowest, in a state of utter hopelessness and despair. It is, nonetheless, a time when our cries are heard; when, by the grace of God, we find the Way.

“Knowing ourself means disencumbering … the soul.”

Since the Friday, June 21st flood, when directed by the police at 3am to leave our home, life as we knew it changed. We returned 5 days later … to start working alongside fellow condo residents to knock out wet drywall, scrape/push river silt into buckets etc. to haul out of the basement/parkade.

In our neighbourhood and in others … life continued on.  People were once again off to work, enjoying breakfast at local cafes, socializing, and just blocks away, at the very same time, droves of volunteers were inserting themselves into our chaos, helping in any way they could to pick up the pieces of distraught lives.

Garry and I became part of the growing “Purple Perk” family … a local café on 4th Street was our kitchen and living room from June 26th until August 3rd.  “Power on yet?”  they’d ask as days grew to weeks.

Coming to know myself  during this time incubated reflection  and change. blw
